Your Questions, and Our Answers

Camp Hollywood is produced by The Performing Arts Group, a dynamic theatre company in St. John’s, NL, dedicated to providing quality instruction in theatre arts to all levels and ages for over fifteen years. Camp Hollywood started in 2008. For more information about our regular acting classes during the year, please contact Patricia Andrews at performnl@gmail.com

Patricia Andrews is the founder and director of both The Performing Arts Group and Camp Hollywood. Patricia is supported by the best of the best in the province. She hires the most talented instructors and only those who truly love immersing young performers to the theatre.

Camp Hollywood writes the scripts to ensure all young performers get equal stage time. A key philosophy of the Performance Arts Group is to embrace each child’s individuality and to bring out the best in every student. We believe that the theatre is a valuable tool in promoting a variety of life skills, such as public speaking, creative thinking and teamwork. These are very real benefits that will last a lifetime.

All young performers should wear comfy clothes and shoes. They should bring a packed lunch or snack. Please be mindful of allergies as we have several performers allergic to peanuts, fish, kiwi and eggs. Performers must bring Epi Pens if required.

Everyone! This is a chance to see your star shine on stage.

All scripts and music are provided. Each performer receives a paper mache theatrical mask to decorate and keep. Camp Hollywood will have costumes available to choose from however we do encourage performers to create their own should they wish. But don’t spend money doing this. Have fun creating costumes from home! Registration also includes 2 free tickets to the “SHOW CAMP HOLLYWOOD” Friday performance.

Children have so much fun that they tend to do fine on their own! However, we will immediately call you if there is a problem or an emergency.

Then your child belongs with us at Camp Hollywood! Nothing boosts self-esteem like performing on stage. As previously stated, we value and embrace each child’s individuality and pride ourselves in bringing out the best in every student. Shy children will get the extra support they need. After all, this is about developing confidence, performing on stage and making friends. We provide a friendly, fun, safe, and nurturing environment in which to learn about the theatre. We believe every child is a star and we have watched very shy and timid boys and girls blossom on stage when they are given the encouragement and opportunity.

We will be covering the auditioning process during the Camp Hollywood week. Although we don’t act as agents, we do get contacted by industry professionals on a regular basis and will send out notices to students. We also post them on our facebook page so join our facebook page at CampHollywood-NL and follow us on twitter.

Camp Hollywood encourages young performers to branch out but doesn't force them. If your young performer wishes to sit out either section during the show they may, however, to date no one has. By the weeks end Performers can't wait to get onstage and strut their stuff leaving them with a great sense of accomplishment.

Payments by cheque should be addressed to Camp Hollywood and can be mailed to 199 Pennywell rd A1C 2L8. We will also be offering a Payment Day Event for those who prefer to come in person. The time and place is to be announced. We do not accept credit cards. A $50 nonrefundable deposit is included in your registration.

Duplicate registrants in the same camp will be disregarded, so please register in only one class section per week. Those wishing to register in more than one camp date may do so. Your young performer will be given new material to work with during the second camp date.

Camp Hollywood is a very popular camp and sells out. For this reason we ask that you only register your young performer if you are confirming their attendance.
